The cairo alexandria day tour covers Egypt’s two greatest destinations across two separate days — no overnight stay required. Day 1 takes you from Alexandria to Giza and back. Day 2 stays in Alexandria for the city’s main monuments. Your guide is a licensed Egyptologist certified .
Departure from Alexandria at 6:30am. The drive to Giza takes approximately 2.5 hours on the desert road.
The Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx are the first stop. The plateau holds three pyramid complexes built between 2589 and 2504 BC. The Pyramid of Khufu stands 138 meters — it held the record as the world’s tallest structure for nearly 4,000 years.
After the plateau, you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. Opened in 2023, it is the largest archaeological museum in the world. The complete treasures of Tutankhamun — 5,398 objects — are displayed here together for the first time.
Lunch is at a local restaurant near the museum. After lunch, a short stop at local shops: papyrus art, Egyptian perfumes, and handwoven carpets. These stops are optional and relaxed.
Return to Alexandria arrives by early evening, in time for ship check-in with a 90-minute buffer.
Day 2 stays entirely in Alexandria. Pickup from your hotel or port at 9:00am.

The Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa are the first stop. Cut into the rock in the 2nd century AD, they are the largest Roman burial site in Egypt. The main tomb chamber mixes pharaonic decoration with Roman architectural forms in a way found nowhere else in the ancient world.
Pompey’s Pillar stands nearby — a 27-meter granite column erected in 297 AD in honour of Emperor Diocletian. Two sphinxes flank the base. The site gives a view over the western harbour district.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina comes next. The modern library, opened in 2002, stands on the site of the ancient Library of Alexandria. The building itself is worth the visit: a tilted disc clad in Aswan granite, inscribed with scripts from 120 languages.
Lunch at a seafood restaurant on the Eastern Harbour — one of the better tables in the city.
Qaitbay Citadel closes the day. Built in 1477 AD on the exact site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The citadel walls contain stones from the original lighthouse structure.

October to April is the most comfortable period. Temperatures on the Giza plateau range from 12°C to 22°C. Early morning departure avoids the crowd that builds at the Pyramids after 10am.
May to September: heat above 35°C on the plateau. The 6:30am departure makes a real difference. The GEM is fully air-conditioned. Alexandria in summer is cooler than Cairo by 5–8°C due to the sea breeze, making Day 2 comfortable year-round.
