This private 3-day Cairo and Alexandria tour gives you Egypt’s two greatest cities at a pace that lets you actually absorb what you’re seeing. Day 1 is Giza — the Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Day 2 is Alexandria — the Catacombs, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Qaitbay Citadel. Day 3 is your return with optional stops built around your interests. Private vehicle, licensed local guide, hotel pickup included throughout.
Your guide meets you at your Cairo or Giza hotel and takes you directly to the Giza Plateau. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure were built between 2560 and 2510 BC. The Great Sphinx, carved from a single limestone outcrop, stands 20 meters high and 73 meters long.
After the plateau, you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — the largest archaeological museum in the world, opened in 2023. The complete treasures of Tutankhamun, 5,398 objects, are displayed here for the first time in a single location. Allow 2–3 hours minimum.
Evening: return to your hotel in Cairo. Overnight in Cairo.
Morning departure from Cairo (approximately 2.5 hours by private vehicle). Your guide accompanies you the full day in Alexandria.
First stop: the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, the largest Roman funerary complex in Egypt, dating from the 2nd century AD. Three levels cut into rock 35 meters deep, blending pharaonic and Roman decorative styles.
Next: Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the modern revival of the ancient Library of Alexandria. The main reading room holds 2,000 readers simultaneously. The complex includes four museums and three art galleries.
Afternoon: Qaitbay Citadel, built in 1477 AD on the exact site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The fortress gives you panoramic views over the Eastern Harbour and the Mediterranean.
Evening: overnight in Alexandria (hotel not included — can be arranged on request).
Morning at leisure in Alexandria. Optional: Montaza Palace Gardens, Stanley Bridge, Alexandria Corniche, or the Roman Amphitheatre at Kom el-Dikka.
Private vehicle returns you to Cairo. En-route stops available on request — Memphis, Saqqara Step Pyramid, or Dahshur Red Pyramid can be added to the return journey.
Drop-off at your Cairo or Giza hotel.
The Giza Pyramids and Sphinx on an open plateau with your guide explaining the construction methods and astronomical alignments that still puzzle researchers. The Grand Egyptian Museum’s Tutankhamun galleries — the gold mask, the nested coffins, the throne. The Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, rarely covered by standard tours but one of the most remarkable sites in Egypt. Bibliotheca Alexandrina, where ancient knowledge was once destroyed and is now being rebuilt. Qaitbay Citadel at sunset, looking out over the same harbour where the ancient Lighthouse once guided Mediterranean ships.
